I would like to remind everyone that mass attendance is an essential part of your faith formation and preparation for confirmation, and to please attend mass every Sunday. On the days that we have class, I would like to urge you, if possible, to attend the 5:30 pm mass because Fr. Albert is tailoring his homily toward you all, and the music selection is also with you all in mind.
Please be sure to bring your CATHOLIC YOUTH HANDBOOK textbooks to class. The assignment from the last class was to read Chapters 3 & 4. We will be focusing on the Bible tomorrow, and Fr. Albert will be presenting you all with your new bibles.
For the 5:30 pm mass, I would appreciate having some volunteers to serve in the following roles:
1 to 2 Readers: 1 for the Old Testament and 1 for Prayers of the Faithful
1 to 2 Altar Servers
2 Ushers for the collection
2 to bring up the Gifts
Please let me know how you would like to serve at this mass.
Please save the date: November 18 is the Inscription mass at 5:30 pm. Attendance at this mass is a special event, and is very important for all students to attend. You will be receiving an Evite during the week with the details.
Confirmation Candidates for 2019, you were given a handout on how to select you Sponsor. Your sponsor will need to have their “good standing” letter from their home parish sent to St. Anne’s Church by November 18th. We will go over this again in class tomorrow.
We still have not received work from the Bishop’s office on a date for Confirmation. As soon as I have that date, I will pass that information on to all of you so you can put it on your calendar. Thank you for your patience.
THE RETREAT FOR CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES FOR 2019, IS SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 2 AT THE CRAIGVILLE CONFERENCE AND RETREAT CENTER ON CAPE COD. WE WILL BE LEAVING SOMETIME IN THE MORNING AND WILL RETURN TO ST. ANNE’S ON THE SAME DAY. THIS RETREAT IS MANDATORY, SO PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS. MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is the culmination of years of preparation, beginning with Baptism. This class is in addition to the High School Religious Education class, and is usually attended by 10th graders of our parish.
It is a dioscean requirement that any student requesting the Sacrament of Confirmation attends 1 year of high school religious education before attending the Confirmation Sacramental preparation course. If your child has attended at least 1 year of high school religious education classes and seeks the Sacrament of Confirmation, they will take both the "Grade 9-10 RE" class (held once/month on Sunday 7-8:30 p.m.), and the Confirmation Class, which will be held on alternate Sundays from Religous Ed on Sundays from 9-10:30 a.m. Registration for Confirmation will begin on September 17th at the Religious Ed Information Session at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. (before and after the 10:30 a.m. Mass).
Again, this class is for those High School students who have completed at least one year of High School religion classes, and who wish to be Confirmed. Confirmation candidates meet for 6 monthly preparation classes on Sunday mornings from December through May (in addition to High School Religious Ed. classes) plus a retreat in February. The ceremony is held at the end of May/early June at St. Paul's Cathedral in Worcester with the Bishop.
